When Kazimierz III, king of Poland, captured Lviv in 1349, giving the city the Magdeburg right for the second time, invited German merchants and artisans became the dominant minority. Fearing competition, zealous German Catholics imposed a number of restrictions on other ethnic groups – Armenians, Jews and Ukrainians. Among such restrictions, the most important for city planning was the ban on non-Catholics living outside their national quarters. Excursion through Armenian, Old Jewish and Ruthenian streets – city’s oldest streets. You will also find out where the Lviv Tatars lived and where their mosque stood.
